  1. Wow. This is amazingly complex. And I’m pretty sure that it’s a gross oversimplification of what’s going on in the world of food. I am always wondering why we chose such incredible complexity to meet such basic needs. I know some of the benefits of such a system, such as increased availability, storage, yields, etc. most of which are products of greater control over resources. But at the cost of such a fundamental need becoming unfathomably complex, just in human involvement, is it worth it? Do we win out in the end? Or even today? Or do we loose something incredibly important in terms of understand our relationship with the environment, each time we break bread or choose our groceries? I think we do. I think we loose the relationship between our daily decisions and our whole beings ability to know what is well and good in the world. When our choice of food has rippling effects, all over the planet, that we can only struggle to perceive in our minds, then we are lost. We are overwhelmed by our lust for control, and the nagging realization that if we do have any, we don’t know what to do with it yet. Perhaps it’s better we live simply, and listen well.
